Since 1986
Our namesake, the ocotillo, is a lanky,
spiny desert plant that leafs out only when moisture permits, and puts
out red blossoms every spring. Look for an ocotillo bush near the front
entrance to our store.

student, and for visitors who want a local souvenir rock. Most kids enjoy
browsing our Rock Room, too!

We carry wire-wrapped jewelry (14K gold-filled and sterling silver) and
will custom wrap stones to your order. We offer beading and wire wrapping
lessons, class or individual. Work space for the do-it-yourselfer: our
materials, your imagination!

THE MARFA LIGHTS book, still available.
THE MARFA LIGHTS: First published in 1988, revised in 1989. We reprint
it every year, and you can buy it at many book stores and gift shops in
the Big Bend area. We sell it for $5.95 in our store. To have it mailed
to you, add $1. for shipping/handling. Texas residents pay our sales tax
of $ .49. ($7.44 total for in-state orders; $6.95 total for out of state

been sold.
The last issue to be published by Ocotillo Enterprises
under the
editorship of Judith Brueske-Plimmer is the Fall
2003 issue. DESERT
CANDLE has been published since 1987. It will continue
as a
periodical supplement to THE DESERT-MOUNTAIN
TIMES, a new weekly
regional newspaper for West Texas.
You may subscribe
to the TIMES (including the CANDLE) or to just
the CANDLE. As for those whose CANDLE subscriptions
have been paid
past the Fall 2003 issue, your money will be refunded
to you by
OCOTILLO ENTERPRISES before the end of 2003. For

Thanks to all of
you who have supported the DESERT CANDLE over
the years. J.M. Brueske-Plimmer, rarely at
a loss for words, will
continue writing for the DESERT CANDLE and
for THE DESERT-MOUNTAIN
TIMES.
* Meanwhile, OCOTILLO ENTERPRISES will be
publishing with some
regularity a store newsletter. The newsletter
will concern
merchandise, classes, and the occasional store
events at 205 North
5th Street in Alpine. A printed copy will be available
at the store,
and anyone who would like to receive an email version
should send an
email to that effect. Send it to ocotillo@overland.net
(for the
subject, please put: newsletter). We'll start the
newsletter probably
in November 2003.
We also plan a website (this is just a page on
the Alpine
chamber's website). It might be ready in November
or December. We'll
announce it in the newsletter.
